What are the age requirements for STAT Medical tests?
STAT Medical currently does not offer tests to anyone below the age of 18 because we aren't able to irrefutably validate the guardianship of that minor.
How are STAT Medical tests different than the ones I get from my doctor?

The tests are different in the way the specimen is collected.

#1 the amount of blood is significantly less which allows you to use a simple Landsat and extracting a few drops of blood from your finger.

#2 the kits arrive at your home so that you don't have to go to your doctor or drive to a lab to get your specimen drawn by a phlebotomist. The tests are quality tests and the validity and accuracy of the Stat Medical tests are comparable to the traditional lab test.
What is the clinical accuracy of allergy blood testing compared with skin prick testing?

There are two standard ways to test for allergies: a skin prick test or a blood test. For a skin prick test, an allergist pricks your skin with allergens in different places to see how you react to each allergen. Our allergy blood test measures the IgE antibody concentrations in your blood.

Traditionally, both a skin prick and a blood test have required a visit to a physician’s office. The skin prick test cannot be done without a physician because an immediate allergic reaction could occur. Another limitation of the skin prick is that you can’t be on antihistamines prior to testing because antihistamines block the physical response that occurs when you’re exposed to an allergen, which is ultimately what a skin prick test is trying to measure. This type of testing also isn’t ideal if you have skin issues, such as eczema, because it limits where your skin can be pricked.

A blood test is a great alternative if you routinely take medications to alleviate allergy symptoms or want to avoid the discomfort that can come with skin prick testing. Our test offers an added convenience; you can measure your IgE levels without having to go to your doctor’s office.

Our at-home test is a great option if you would want to test your IgE levels from the convenience of your own home.
Why would I trust a lab test from STAT Medical instead of going to my doctors lab?

You can trust a test from STAT medical as much as you would as going to your own doctors lab.

We use the same technology and highly vetted labs that specialize in procuring results out of a small sample of blood as opposed to a large sample of blood. The validity and accuracy of those results are comparable to the results that your doctor receives from a traditional stand-up lab where several SST blood tubes have to be collected using a phlebotomist.
How is a physician involved with a test that I purchase from STAT Medical?

STAT Medical partners with an independant, third party physician network.

Through that company, each consumer/patient is assigned a respected physician that will review and order a particular lab test for that consumer and will review the lab results that are derived from that Laboratory test.
What if my allergy test comes back with no reactivity?
Please note that just under 10% of all Americans have a food allergy, so you are going to see a lot of reports with no food elevations.

The % should be a little higher for inhalant allergies, ranging anywhere from 8-20% of the population.

What happens to my sample once processing is complete?
Usually, our panels use the entire sample volume to perform the testing. If there is a portion of the sample left over after testing is completed, then it is held (usually a week to two weeks) in the event retesting is needed. The sample is then disposed of appropriately in accordance with biological specimen disposal standards (incinerated).

Do I have to have a prescription to order a test?

The exception to this regulation is those states that allow Direct Access Testing (DAT), which allows consumers to test without a physician-authorized requisition. STAT Medical works with a physician network to authorize all test requisitions in every state where we offer our testing kits.
Are the home diagnostic tests eligible for FSA or HSA Accounts or commercial insurance?
In most cases, you can use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HAS) to pay for in-home health tests. All of the STAT Medical home diagnostic tests are ordered and reviewed by medical doctors, so they should comply with the guidelines for most FSA or HAS coverage. We recommend that our customers verify their coverage prior to ordering a test.
Is STAT Medical HIPAA compliant?
STAT Medical is HIPAA compliant and assures secure handling of personal health information per the HIPAA/HITECH Security Standards.
Why is it important to take charge of my lab tests from home?

It is important to take charge of your health as most disease conditions can be controlled and prevented if consumers will find out what is going on inside their bodies.

The best and quickest way to do this is with diagnostic tests. The sooner one takes control of their health, the higher the likelihood that they can practice preventive medicine and stave off certain disease conditions. Also, if a certain disease condition is indicated by your results there are certain interventions and lifestyle modifications that can be done to lessen or eliminate the disease condition.
